Breast lump treatment

Breast surgery, addresses conditions related to the breasts. The specific treatment approach depends on various factors, including the nature of the lump (whether it is benign or malignant), the size and location of the lump, and the overall health of the patient.

Here are common approaches to breast lump treatment:

  • Clinical Evaluation and Imaging:
The initial step is a clinical evaluation by a healthcare provider, which may include a physical examination and imaging studies such as mammography, ultrasound, or MRI to assess the characteristics of the lump.
  • Biopsy:
If the lump is suspicious, a biopsy is often performed to obtain a sample of tissue for further examination. This can help determine whether the lump is benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous).
  • Benign Breast Lumps:
If the lump is determined to be benign, treatment options may include:
Watchful Waiting: Monitoring the lump over time.
Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) or Core Needle Biopsy: Draining fluid or obtaining tissue samples for further analysis
Surgical Removal (Excision): In some cases, particularly if the lump is causing symptoms or if a definitive diagnosis is needed, surgical removal may be recommended.
